NBA 2K21: What Does An Acceptable Current-Gen Version Look Like?
2K and EA are NBA 2K21 MT in positions that are interesting. Both have significant sports titles coming out on consoles within a few months. EA has the same scenario with FIFA 21.
Similarly, 2K has NBA 2K21 with what also figures to be a version in its way to next-gen consoles, coming out the first week of September. Afterall, the 2020 NBA Draft nor free agency won't have happened by the time current-gen NBA 2K21 is released. The NBA season that was 2019-20 won't even be carried out.
Because of these things all, anyone anticipating as large of an effort as we generally see from an 2K discharge is very likely to be disappointed. All logic points to 2K rescue most of its ammunition or all on the next-gen models. Nevertheless, what does an acceptable release that is current-gen seem like for 2K? I've got some thoughts. As we have seen in the gameplay trailer that released last month, the graphics will be identical, if not identical to NBA 2K20. While this might be an issue for some, I'm fine with this bit of stagnation.
There's two reasons: I believe we have already seen this creation of consoled pushed into their limit that is graphical. Than what we see here it's not going to get far better on XB1 and PS4. It would be foolish to presume 2K would want to invest if they stand to profit from providing a next-gen version that will be hyped up because it looks in enhancing the item visually. 2K and every other producer of sports video games will need the difference between next-gen and present to be evident from a visual perspective. As a consumer, I am fine with that strategy.
Soundtracks are cool and all, but quite frankly, in investing too much into this part of a game, I struggle to find the authentic value that is long-term. That's an opinion that I am sure some will agree with, and others might disagree. Nevertheless, we've already seen the soundtrack which is going to be in the match, and based upon your personal tastes, you're could care less about the songs, frustrated, or either elated. I am good with what is coming on this front, as far as comment, I can wait for the next-gen versions for a jump in this area. There are a number of really cool things that could be done in order to make what' good commentary in the game even better.
Here is a part of where EA and 2K should really bring the heat. I am not talking about delivering fresh ways. For instance, I've already stated that with no salary cap feature in MyTeam, I'm probably not going to provide that aspect of the game much of my period this year. Comparable, although to a degree, the exact same can be said for a draft feature. Madden, FIFA, MLB The Show, and the NHL show have versions of this concept in their collector modes. 2K wants to bring this back to MyTeam.
Play Today Online can remain as it is on current-gen, but the WNBA attribute, PARK, MyCareer, MyGM/MyLeague and Pro-Am must find some love. I would really like to find a full franchise mode option available for WNBA, in addition to the ability to create a feminine MyPlayer. With this functionality available in MyCareer as well as PARK and Pro-Am are nice. MyLeague lovers and many MyGM are concerned because we haven't seen a site for this part of the sport, and that has been published by now. It is unclear if that means those beloved Buy NBA 2K MT modes have gone untouched. Since they're a few upgrades that may be delivered on current-gen that wouldn't threated next-gen's appeal, that isn't true.
