Would any player that is returning join an MMO where they are currently 2 + years supporting? Doing expansions that way garauntees that the playerbase will constantly go down over time.It does not take two years to catch up though. If you hit 60 per month after launching of Naxx and wow classic gold then joined a guild, you would gain gear at a quicker rate than WOW players who had been playing the entire time (who geared up slowly). You could accompany that guild on their MC AQ runs. A guild in Naxx would continue to run these since there are reasons to conduct these raids built into WOW Classic design.
You might not receive the rare items that they are still trying to get (such as binding or eye) but they may allow you to scoop up loot. I joined a psever struck at 60 and guild a couple of weeks before AQ and I aimed up. Those went to WOW players who'd been there longer who needed them (and rightfully so) but I was able to get decent items that nobody needed. There are also"catch-up" raids. That is what ZG is. It gives sidegrades to BWL to help guilds. Karazan could be released as the'ZG' of all Naxx. Equipment, reputation, sidegrade things. A better question would be, why could a new or returning player join an MMO as perplexing or occupied as retail WoW?

TIFU by logging in when I did. I had my first major raid as a recruit. As a trial show em I supposed and wanted to impress these guys business. So I went over to the auction house and bought a myriad of different concoctions and magic cocktails, as well as two or three heaps of runn tum tubers. I pressed on buyout on a FLASK OF SUPREME POWER and also browsed the plate. Yikes! Having spent my money, I figured there's no reason to half-ass that, so I jumped onto a wyvern and shattered away towards Feralas cuz that a dude was sellin' cheap cleared DM tribute ID.
So I was that. Having said hi to Gelihast and his slimy friends and being awarded the boon of cheap classic gold wow Blackfathom I ported tf back to O-town. Doras, being real tired of my shit let me borrow a different wyvern's reins and I made my way. There I relogged to smell a flower that is specific. Ported back to OG and logged out.
