While Runescape is greatly targeted

  • Every game has robots, but they are not as common since spiders in other games either are not as rewarding or RuneScape is so complex that it takes work. Plus RuneScape has been so long that OSRS Gold bot manufacturers gave nearly two years of experience. Jagex will have to get creative with detecting bots as bots are becoming indistinguishable from people, as jagex does not detect robots that were even at the peak of the high scores, so they will need to get creative. But if it had been as easy as just hiding the ID's they would have.

While Runescape is greatly targeted towards RS3, since it is the longer running, chief version of the game and this subreddit was set 4 years until the launching of OSRS, content from the games is welcome here as they're both part of their RuneScape community. Since 2007 Runescape is the official subreddit for OSRS, it is connected in our header and sidebar as our Partner Subreddit, so that it does have some visibility here.

AutoModerator is capable of accomplishing this, but it will not stop players from posting queries or OSRS content unless this subreddit were to become content that is exclusive to RS3 only. It appears that many articles fitting this criteria are articles from users that will gravitate towards 2007 Runescape later being redirected there, which happens in the remarks. When we were to attempt this with AutoModerator, posts removed or will probably get incorrectly filtered which are on issue. If a post is filtered, eliminated this may create some unnecessary frustration because of our users, and/or receives.

For a short while, we used to have an AutoModerator configuration which tried to filter these posts, so that it had been removed, but there were far too many false positives along with  can you buy gold in osrs articles which weren't filtered. Our motives for needing to filter these articles were to remove articles that have an uncensored phishing url (potentially putting different users at risk) and removing posts which attempted to ask Jagex because of help related to a hijacking after getting one of these emails (Rule 7).
