It feels more like the bones of a pursuit rebuilt and taken to a background narrative. Quests are background or lore, they're experiences. In RS, quests have have owned gravitas, weight, stakes. Peoples lives were saved and lost with a narrative slowly unfurling to tell a comprehensive narrative. Reading and lore books will never have exactly the exact same effect as playing a pursuit. That's not to mention the lore books are poor, but they are osrs gold paypal no substitute for quests.
Alright but Arch ISN'T just lore novels, you're doing puzzles altering the surroundings meeting new NPCs and getting the story from these. I agree lore books are not enough but this, these were not just lore books is my point. Also quest don't necessarily have bets immediately lots of them become something bigger throughout the quest or narrative. The story from the Zammy website for example starts as you attempting to obtain the infernal source, moves into uncovering some unsettling history, then ends with you rescue the lives of 14 infernals which had been enslaved and forgotten about for centuries.
Though some quests have no actual stakes ever like one small favor which is just a very long series of moderately inconvenient fetch quests or the elemental workshop in which you're just discovering history concerning seer's village. The main difference is your delivery. Did we save those demons? Trained RNG and a skill till we were favored by it. Quests are active, not a passive experience.
The mystery in the Zamorak website is also a significant outlier to everything in the skill. None of the sights have puzzles close to it that I have encountered so far. I have"solved" something similar to 17 puzzles at this point. Almost all them consisted of grinding RNG and using a completed item on part of the scenery. It's not a replacement for quests, it is a mockery of those. It's trying to distill their character and place that into things like that covers the market RS carved out for itself using its own unique system. It's been years since questing was treated as appreciated in RS, around the time of Silke's Endgame.
Ever since this quest it's been impossible for Jagex to dedicate to anything other then one offs, although I get that they aren't the most popular. Even their whole measures was dropped. They keep telling us they will put the lore into other pieces of RuneScape, but it is so empty. However, I, along with other questers, simply want more quests, to not try and merge our favorite content to skilling or pvm. It's also unfair to compare ancient content like one little favor to buy rsgp paypal contemporary content such as archaeology. Everything was different making one favor stand out as a quest.
