Brendan Malcolm, Games by RuneScape Gold Malcs founder and the developer of Melvor Idle, stated: "It's been a long journey to get to this point however, I am very happy to be being able to announce the official debut of Melvor Idle! V1.0 contains a large portion of the content that the community has been demanding and we expect to see them enjoy the new astrology skills and, in particular, that boss at the end."
He says that "the assistance that Jagex can offer through creative services and localisation has been essential in helping us achieve our goals for the game by offering it worldwide to the greatest player."
Although Melvor Idle is now at 1.0 full release and gone to early access, this isn't the final word of development. Three additional expansions are being planned to ensure that players will have plenty to look forward to.However, it is an exceptionally made idle game, and its focus on letting players choose their own path through the game helps it make a mark in the sea of idle games which force players to increase a number for as long as they want to."
The discussions progressed as did the discussions. Melvor Idle was soon signed to Jagex Partners, the RuneScape company's publishing subsidiary. Jagex provided Malcolm development advice and helped by reviving the brand and assisted with the management of communities and localisation. This included turning the game created by one person to be that is available in 13 local languages (so far).
The launch was earlier in the month as well as the Early Access version proved this formula resonated with RPG fans, having been downloaded more than 600,000 times across Steam and both major online mobile apps stores. This far exceeded what Malcolm's expectations were when he first set out. Naturally, he had hopes that his strategy would succeed but he didn't have an 'endgame goal in mind.
"Luckily the enjoyment that fueled those first few months remains with me over the years of development, and being capable of working alongside Jagex directly on this is a dream come true," he says. "I never imagined that I would ever receive the backing of the same studio which inspired me in first place..
The transition from hobby to fan-driven project was definitely a scary experience however, looking back at the direction I've taken, and the assistance I've received from the beginning of RS 2007 Items Games by Malcs as an up-and-coming studio, it has certainly been for the most successful."
