In the end, I believe RuneScape will be able to make it to its 30th anniversary because of the mobile and Steam version have introduced it to an entirely new audience. I'll certainly be around for the latest adventures, especially if they involve penguins or a Construction skill rework, and, if I'm in need of some rest, I can come back anytime to Old School RuneScape.
You can play a game for a thousand hours however this doesn't mean it's fun it. We've all seen the video of someone who gives the most negative Steam review that has more than 5000 hours of gameplay. However, let's face it, this isn't an insane concept anymore.
I've put hundreds of time into Fallout 4, and I probably played through about five. The remaining was just the promise of fun, along with the bloody "kill, loot, return' game loop fooling my brain into thinking it was enjoying itself. It's been interesting to read your comments about Skyrim - and how you've reverted back to it yet again. Pathetic, the lot of us.
And old School RuneScape? I don't know. It's easy to recognize one of these timesink games: they consume your life and you then complain about it on the internet. However, RuneScape is different. When I'm not gaming, I'm still unable to form an opinion about it. I hear the music in my mind, and feel a gravitational pull bringing me back to it. It was discovered that it was an error on my mobile. My family hasn't heard from me in several days.
RuneScape was among the pioneers. It was a game which is solely focused on engaging, but it doesn't always have to go along with having fun. However, that doesn't mean that they're mutually exclusive, it just means that there are strategies to keep you playing when you're not OSRS Buy Gold having enjoyable.
