"WASD was conceived as a pure idea of Diablo Immortal being a mobile-first game," Joe Grubb, Immortal's game designer in chief D2R Ladder Items, tells us. "In mobile games, you're in complete control of your character's skills and abilities can be utilized while moving. It's easier to have that interaction."
"Direct control has this immersive element to it," Fergusson adds. "When you're using mouse-click which is actually there! You're like a benign god floating around your charactersaying, 'go there to that place, do this and this. '"
Diablo Immortal will also feature gamepad support, which was first added as a feature in Diablo within the version for consoles of Diablo 3.
