While the impact of these changes has yet to be evaluated the effects of these changes are among the strongest measures any studio has taken in order to protect against external misuse of its systems to gain profit. If they succeed, similar actions might be found in the MMO space in the future.
Jagex is announcing that after 18 years of being the main PvP battleground, Duel Arena will be leaving RuneScape and a new area to be created. The game will begin today with Oasis Restoration participants will be tasked to transform the Duel Arena following a cataclysmic earthquake that destroyed the arena. The players will have to team up to transform the ruins of the arena from "a blood-soaked pit of fighting Buy RuneScape 2007 Gold, where heroes have been staking their wealth in one-on-one matches, to a tranquil oasis."
