However, what the game could really take advantage of Diablo 2 Resurrected Items is cross-platform play, available as an option to toggle on or off. I have lots of friends without a PC who are considering Resurrected, and I'd really like to show them the ropes without needing to buy the game on games. I am sure there are lots of other people out there who would agree. And together with Blizzard's expertise in the sphere of pre-rendered cinematics going as far back as Diablo II that is allowing the team to look at these resources and reimagine them together with 2021-era detail.
"There's this idea of symbology which may happen to be somewhat muddy from the first edition," Rod notes with regard to this CD-ROM style cinematics found in the first release. "Being able to come across the real stripes, the artwork of exactly what that wall must look like, and what the goal would have been if they could render it in a higher resolution -- is fantastic."
"The sheer quantity of time that it takes you to take a character to maximum level in D2," Rob Gallerani pauses, once the discussion shifts to Diablo II's mechanics and systems. "It's just a much longer tail to get to what you'd call the'end game'. And fairly quickly because span things like Identify Scrolls aren't a thing because you have Deckard Cain and Stamina isn't really a thing because you've gotten enough Vitality that you simply forget about it."
It's a seemingly simple thing, pointing to how Diablo II changes within the course of several hours with mechanics and systems which evolve or drift in the background. During early playtests, in which the group dove into Diablo II, the Stamina question would come up a few times when some began wondering why they were suddenly walking.
"That's the experience you go through because you level these figures," Rob Gallerani adds. "These systems only touch everything." Together with Diablo II: Resurrected hitting just about every platform you can think about -- from PC to Nintendo Switch to next-gen consoles along with the PS4 and Xbox One -- with cross-progression support (the team is not quite prepared to discuss its plans to get cross-play quite yet), obviously you'll be able to Buy Diablo 2 Items command the on-screen action using a controller.
